Every spell in Solomon's books. In your own words.

The 72 kings of the Goetia, the 34 binding words of the Testament of Solomon, and the holy names of the Key of Solomon — translated from the 1916, 1898 and 1888 editions. Every entry carries its original words, a plain modern line, what it is for, and how it reads now.

How to read this

Four layers on every card

Modernizing means translation and annotation. The entry is the entry; the reading is ours.

Layer 1

Original

The words as printed in the edition — the 1916 Goetia, the 1898 Testament, the 1888 Key. Verbatim, with the edition's spelling kept. Where the manuscript is damaged or the scan drops a page, the entry says so.

Layer 2

Modern

Plain English, same meaning, no ornament. A translation, not an interpretation: nothing added to the claim, nothing taken from it.

Layer 3

What it's for

What the entry is actually doing — the harm it confesses, or the work it commands — in one line. This is the use, so you can find the tool by its job.

Layer 4

Now

How it reads in 2026. A reading, not a new ritual: the oldest written description of the condition, and the shape of the correction the text gives.

How the spells work

Three mechanisms, one grammar

Across three books written two centuries apart, the working is always the same shape: a name over a harm, a borrowed holy name, or a structured call with a release.

The Testament · 1898

The binding word

Each of the 34 world-rulers confesses its own harm, then names its own correction — an archangel's name laid over its own. The ruler retreats at the name.

“Michael, imprison Ruax.” “Gabriel, imprison Barsafael.” “Uriel, imprison Aratosael.”

The correction is a name. The harm is confessed in the demon's own words, and the exit is spoken before it is needed.

The Key · 1888

The holy name

The Greater Key works with the names the Bible itself records — borrowed, never invented.

“Ex' Cuat … which Moses invoked and all the waters returned to their prior state.” “Aponar Me exn, which Joshua invoked, and stayed the course of the Sun.”

The command reaches “from every corner of the terrestrial earth” “by that Ineffable Name which Moses heard … from the midst of the Burning Bush.”

The Goetia · 1916

The invocation

The structure of every working is a sequence: the call, the command, the answer, the release.

“By THE PENTACLE OF SOLOMON HAVE I CALLED THEE! GIVE UNTO ME A TRUE ANSWER.”

And when the work is done, the door is opened both ways: “I do here license thee to depart unto thy proper place … the peace of God be ever continued between thee and me.”

The Goetia · closing

The vessel

The Goetia's own closing is the whole doctrine in one image.

“THESE be the 72 Mighty Kings and Princes which King Solomon Commanded into a Vessel of Brass, together with their Legions.”

Solomon bound them “because of their pride” and chased them “into a deep Lake or Hole in Babylon.” The people of Babylon broke the vessel open expecting treasure — and out flew the chief spirits. The spirits, the vessel, the lane.

04

The doctrine

What the codex is doing to you

“The Watchers were the teachers. The fall was a story we told.”

Every mechanism in this archive is a lane-shift. The Testament puts a name over a harm. The Key borrows a holy name the Bible already records. The Goetia builds a structure — call, command, answer, release — and hands the spirit a door. The gift is the same in all three: the spoken word over the condition. The lane is what the word is pointed at.

“The gift was never the problem. The lane is.”

And the Testament's own ending seals the read. In a book of demons, the oldest written confession is a confession of the Christ: “The great among men, who is to suffer many things at the hands of men, whose name is the figure 644, which is Emmanuel.” 644 is the Greek letter-value of IESOUS. The demons bind themselves to the number, and the book ends on it.

“A giant is just a person who took the gift all the way.”
